12: Biggest Auto Insurance Claim – $23 M
The teenage girl Agnes Collier was compensated with a record of $32 m for the injuries she sustained in a deadly car crash. The crash resulted from the grave mistake of a bike rider and killed Agnes’s mother on the spot.
Agnes herself suffered spinal injuries at the very highest level of severity which left her with no use of her legs and little function in her arms after the accident. Agnes’ compensation includes $10m lump sum, plus $373 k-a-year to cover care for rest of her life. The payout came not from collier’s car insurance company but rather from the insurers of Anthony Norton, the bike rider.
